Our Beds – designed for everyone
Each cottage bedroom is designed to work for couples, carers and families, so that everyone enjoys the same comfortable and relaxing night’s sleep.
Our beds were chosen because they do not look like hospital beds. They are supplied by a local company who were among the first to bring electric adjustable beds to the domestic market. We have worked with their beds since the very beginning of our business in 2001 and, in 2013, added the specialist carers bed for more complex needs.

Konturmatic Profiling / Carers Bed
There is one of these beds in the master bedroom of each cottage.
- Height adjustable from 560mm to 880mm
- Adjustable bed rails which can be raised, lowered or removed at your own risk
- Electric head and foot adjustment
- 2m long memory foam mattress designed to relieve pressure and move with the bed
- Recommended maximum user weight: 21 stone (133kg)
Standard Konturmatic Electric Riser Bed
There is also one of these in the master bedroom of each cottage.

King Size Option
The beds can be pushed together on request to create a large king size arrangement. Because the beds move independently, king set ups use separate fitted sheets to allow full functionality.
This option is available in the master bedrooms of all cottages, and in the second bedroom of Garden Bench.
Ceiling Hoist
Each master bedroom includes a Freeway ceiling hoist with a two point spreader bar. The track runs centrally across both beds. Suitable for up to 130kg.
Air Mattress
Some of our guests prefer an air mattress, we don't provide one - but we have made contact with some local companies that offer this service - they ensure it is working, service the equipment and by booking with them direct you save any VAT - they will also deliver the mattress prior to your arrival, the bed will be made up ready for you and they will collect it after your departure. Why Our Beds Matter
From the beginning in 2001, we knew an adjustable bed was essential. My mum needed her feet raised at night and there was nowhere that offered this, so we made it standard in our very first cottage.
In March 2013, when we opened Garden Bench, it was the first time we installed a height adjustable profiling bed in one of our cottages. I remember wondering whether people would notice. Whether it would matter.
It did.
That bed meant someone could get in and out independently. It meant safer transfers. Importantly, it did not look clinical.
It looked like a bedroom. A proper bedroom. A place where couples could still share a room. Not feel separated by equipment. Not a hospital, but a home.
Since then, height adjustable beds and ceiling hoists have become standard in all three cottages. If you do not need rails, they can be removed and the bed looks like any other high quality adjustable bed.
Looking back to 2013, I feel proud that we have stayed true to why we started. A place to come on holiday, to relax, and although practical, something that offers real home comforts.
